To start off the festival we will be offering a unique tour of the Maigue Poets country, home of the historically famous Maigue Poets, a circle of 18th century Gaelic poets in County Limerick. The tour take in the poetry circle on Knockferna, Kilmallock and Croom. Booking essential Tour fee €15.00

6pm - Official festival launch

August 15, 2019

Mayor of Limerick launches the 7th annual Bring Your Limericks to Limerick festival.  A special heritage plaque will be unveiled outside Costellos Milk Market Bar in Mungret Street the location where Maigue Poet Sean O Tuama ran a tavern until his death in 1775. The third edition of Dr Matthew Potters book The Curious Story of the Limerick will also be launched.

Writing Poetry for Children Workshop with Alan Murphy

Think you might like to write poetry for children? Let your imagination blaze in a workshop with Alan Murphy. Alan is the Dublin-born writer and illustrator of four collections of poetry for young readers, two of which have been shortlisted for the CAP awards for independent authors. He has been featured in children’s poetry anthologies in the UK and America, and has also published poetry for adults and visual art with a number of journals. 7.30pm Final of Bring Your Limerick to Llimerick Competition 2019

Now for the main event. Are you finalist, a family member or a friend of the limericks. Enjoy a fun packed evening at the Bring your limericks to Limerick competition final. You will have the chance to here a selection of the best limericks from this years entries and see who is crowned the king or queen of the limerick on the night.  Final takes place at Dolans Music Venue, Dock Rd., Limerick 7.30pm.
