To start off the festival we will be offering a unique tour of Maigue Poets country, taking in Croom, home of the historically famous Maigue Poets, a circle of 18th century Gaelic poets in County Limerick, Kilmallock and Knockferna Poets trail. 6pm - Official festival launch and plaque unveiling

August 15, 2019

Mayor of Limerick launches the 7th annual Bring Your Limericks to Limerick festival.  We will also have a reading from The Curious Story of the Limerick by historian Matthew Potter and a special heritage plaque will be unveiled outside Costello's Milk Market Bar on Mungret Street, the spot where Maigue Poet Sean O Tuama lived and ran a tavern until his death in 1775.

8pm - Poetry Slamming & Traditional Irish Music session

August 15, 2019

Let's get together to slam some poetry around. We are inviting poets, readers, writers and songsters to join us for a fun night in Limerick. We will have traditional Irish musicians on hand to keep the tempo lively. 

3pm - Panal Discussion: The Role of Arts in Society

August 16, 2019

Join us for a discussion with a panal of experts to talk about the role of arts in society today. 

What is the role of the artist?

How does society support the arts?

Is there enough funding for artists today?

How have the arts and how we appreciate the arts changed?

Where do we see artists in the future?

How can we ensure that artists get the assistance they need?

8pm - Bring your limericks to Limerick Competition Final

August 16, 2019

Now for the main event. Are you finalist, a family member or a friend of the limericks. Enjoy a fun packed evening at the Bring your limericks to Limerick competition final. You will have the chance to here a selection of the best limericks from this years entries and see who is crowned the king or queen of the limerick on the night.
